Monthly Carmelite Meeting
At 8:30 this morning I went to my monthly Lay Carmelite meeting on Meade St. in Wilkes_Barre at the Little Flower Manor. Unfortunately, Mary Anne & Rita both quit last month. Today, for a change of pace , I decided to go to another library. Pittston's internet is down so I'm in West Pittston. It's a really nice quiet place. Not much is new so far. Christmas fast approaches. Here's yet another Christmas no_no: People who send those nightmarishly annoying Christmas newsletters (now even e_letters) about their fabulous families' fabulous accomplishments, vacations, etc. Nobody's even the least bit interested in them anyway.

Only Ten Days Until Christmas
There are only ten days left in Advent. Then the Christmas season begins. Today has been cold so far but at least I've been able to see where I'm going. Surprisingly, I finally got an e mail from Cathleen in California. Here's one of my Christmas pet no_nos: People who refer to Christmas as the holidays, and seem to feel they have the authority to force others to do so whether we like it or not. That's an awfully nauseating practice, whether in person, the media or wherever. Every day, from now on, I shall refer to a Christmas no_no. Last night, I watched Alfred Hitchcock's North By Northwest with Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint & many other familiar faces. Today I started reading Jane Austen's Mansfield Park again.

Nightmarishly Foggy Morning
Thursday, December 14, 2006: This morning was nightmarishly foggy. So far the rest of the day hasn't been anything to brag about either. It's an extremely significant Carmelite feast day, though_St. John of the Cross_so I made quite sure I got over to O.L. Mt. Carmel Church in Pittston for 7 a.m. Mass. I'm just about finished with Villette. Life has been going on so far, so well. Christmas beckons. One of these days I shall have to give you a nice big itemized check list about all the no_nos of Christmas.

Finally Got the Sword
Wednesday, December 13, 2006: Great Caesar's ghost, it has finally & at last arrived!!! The Calced Carmelites at the Most Pure Heart of Mary Province in Darien, Il. publish The Sword every November. I usually make sure I try to send away for a copy. I sent the $ in quite awhile ago. November came & went. My copy never managed to get to me so I got suspicious & took it for granted that either it must have gotten lost or something else bad must have happened. Well I found out yesterday that it would be in the Wyoming p.o. at 9 a.m. today. Because of my having moved I was forced to fork over $1.59 extra for shipping. Hey, I even got yet a whole nother surprise. Believe it or not, Miz Kitti even sent an e mail. I was beginning to get the impression that she may have fallen off the globe or something.

Haircut Time
Tuesday, December 12, 2006: December keeps rolling right along toward Christmas. I know I shall soon have to get another haircut. Yesterday I got the second of the two Christmas cards I can always count on getting every year. Hey so what can I tell you? My list isn't all that long. The weather has been warmer than average lately. I'll bet O.L.P.H. has been hopping like mad these days but I'm not especially involved at O.L. Sorrows so I can't say.
Internet au Go Go
Tuesday, December 12, 2006: Hi. Have any of you ever gotten a chance to check out the Frappr bar? It's a great internet hangout for all us cyber social butterflies. I make all sorts of connections by lollygaggling on the internet. This is quite a trip. http://www.frappr.com/thefrapprbar

Very First Christmas Card of the Year
Monday, December 11, 2006: Yesterday I got my very first Christmas card of the year-besides the one from the Carmelite sisters- and today I made sure I wrote out the ones I have to send. The weather's been very nice today. Last night I went to this month's Holy Name Society meeting where we pigged out on jalapeno peppers and hooch. There was lots of talk about Christmas plans & how aggravating & expensive things are. I'm still reading Charlotte Bronte's Villette. That Lucy Snowe & her friends are quite the bunch of characters.
