HAPPY MOTHER'S EVE

Tomorrow's the big day but assuming I won't have access to an available computer, a happy day is hereby officially wished to all ladies who qualify. I mistakenly claimed yesterday that Stacy's shower would be today. It's really next Saturday. Uncle Frankie & Fran came over for a while last night. Mary Anne & Bridget are here too, but Steve, Michael & Sam couldn't make it. At 1:00 p.m. we shall be going to a Chinese restaurant even though my mother, one of the guests of honor, has never been able to stand Chinese food. Hey go figure. Welcome to my nut house of a life. That's like my asking to spend my special occasions endorsing liberal causes. Matt & Brianne are here for the big day too. Happy birthday, Vinnie & Helene. The weather's awfully nice these days & at night I even have to sleep with only a light blanket & open window. I'll be taking many long walks from now on. Once again, I repeat: It's odd that today's teeny.boppers are still nanny frickin gaga for the fab four. Insanely young people have all sorts of Beatle blogs. A minute ago I was just reading something about Ringo Starr on the bbc's official site. It's as if I've died & gone to forty years ago.

STACY & MIKE'S BIG ADVENTURE

This weekend Stacy & Mike have the party before the Party. It's time for her shower at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. It will be in southeastern Pa. Mary Anne & Bridget are coming in today. Last night I watched the rest of that Sean Penn movie. Kevin Bacon was also in the cast & there was lots of tension in the plot. I guess that means it was full of Kevin Bacon anxiety. I've heard they're planning a movie in which Kevin Bacon's character is determined to be both a priest & politician. Wouldn't that make him a Kevin Bacon of church & state? The weather's simply smashing today but yesterday there were thunderstorms galore. KrissyKrissyKrissy got home a smidge late today. Yesterday I went for yet another walk. I've been getting especially good at it lately. Cathleen was off yesterday & spent her day at the beach. I don't know if we even have beaches around her. To the best of my knowledge all we have are bridges, mountains & a million & one other things, all surrounding the Susquehanna.

COLD SHAKE HOT DAY

Yesterday I cut grass in sweltering hot weather. After a while I decided to take advantage of the coupon I recently got, at the blood drive, for a Wendy's Frosty. It's a milk shake. I got vanilla. Because the weather was so hot, though, the long drive to the nearest Wendy's_in Kingston_ drove me stark raging nutso. I don't really know exactly which fast food franchise around here is where, so I took a joy ride down River Rd. to Wilkes_Barre & couldn't find a single Wendy's on the way. I then looked into the phone book when I got home. The only one on Wyoming Ave. is over in Kingston. The cumulative effect of all the driving, heat, etc. really overwhelmed me. By the time 6:00 p.m. finally got here, I was about ready for a stark raging nut house. Hey so what can I tell you?! I get to know stuff by way of trial & moocho error. The desperate quest for a cold milk shake backfired on me, & I got overwhelmed by heat. Today the sky's one big cloud & we're expecting rain.

HOORAH FOR HEATHER MORIJAH

South Dakota's very own, & soon to be our, Heather Morijah, got into more than a smidge of trouble recently for her MPEACHW license plates. The state's DMV came very close to forcing her to get rid of her plates merely because she doesn't like our current top banana. The weather over here has been quite smashing lately. I cut the grass this morning. It's a boring job but at least it only takes a little while. I completely overlooked Sunday's Holy Name Society meeting because it was early this month. They're usually on the second weekend. KrissyKrissyKrissy will be back on Friday. Lately, I've been trying to get back into the habit of walking at least close to a mile at a time. I've been trying to take a nice long walk each day. I've always been quite a horrendously sedentary character, so I need some help with figuring out exactly how this exercise thing's supposed to go. Yesterday I was watching "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" & one of the contestants was from Commack.

GOOD MOVIE

Last night I watched about half of a movie that KrissyKrissyKrissy recommended. It's MYSTIC RIVER starring Sean Penn & other big names & directed by Clint Eastwood. Of course you know what they say: Would Mae West? Clint Eastwood. I can't handle long movies well, so I was forced to break it up. Today I went for yet another of my walks. I need the exercise. It gets easier each time I do it. I think KrissyKrissyKrissy said she'll be visiting some of Ed's relatives for a while. All I can really remember is she'll be gone until Friday, just in time for the famous dance. I gave blood yesterday at my parish church & everything worked out quite well. At my old KofC council they give each donor a free meal. Here we just get junk food. There was a new phlebotomist there named Bobbie Jo. It was her first day on the job. The seasoned pros kept helping her. I see Paris Hilton is threatened with jail. Of course, since we have the best criminal justice system in this country that her $ can buy she's in the clear. Ask the Kopechne's how much time Ted Kennedy has spent in jail.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

Yesterday, all the local young.uns received their First Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m. Mass at O.L.Sorrows. There were more than a few of them. When it was my turn, four decades ago this month, only my friends Earl, Jo.Anne (whom I'm now finally back in touch with) were there. As far as I know, Earl & family may be somewhere over in Puerto Rico. Today the church is having a blood drive from one o'clock to six o'clock. Blood drive people have been calling me like crazy lately. I can't stand the phone so I'll never forgive them. Giving blood isn't a great feeling but I've always been very conscientious about it. Ever since my days in N.Y. with my old job & KofC council I've given donations a million times over. KrissyKrissyKrissy got home a smidge late today. She was busy with something she couldn't get out of. My mother wants to find out about some kind of skin cancer stuff that's going on around here. I suppose that's interesting. All my relatives are now getting agitated over the big thingy that's coming up for the fourth of July weekend. They'll be driving each other stark raging nuts over the course of the next few weeks. On top of that there's Stacy's shower next week. Naturally, I woke up with a headache in the middle of the night just in time for what I expected would be a miserable Sunday but I took a headache pill and all worked out well. Unfortunately, Maria very badly hurt her nose & they thought it was broken. Her sister Josephine is also very sick.
