NEW STORM DOOR
We just got really good news from Gino & Michelle. They intend to adopt a child & are doing quite well so far with all the plans. Uncle Frankie showed up for a while yesterday. Mary Anne called yesterday too. Bridget's birthday went quite well. So far this morning the weather's been nicer than it was yesterday. I've still been reading quite voraciously lately. It pays to keep abreast of all the current & historical cultural, political & other movements. My parents, finally & at last, have wised up & gotten a new storm door for the front of the house. That last one was a total nightmare. It was absolutely as old as the hills & didn't work even the least bit well. This one is at least easy to lock & unlock. I'm not even the least bit happy with the fact that Sonya Sotomayor is in favor of both abortion & reverse discrimination. Unfortunately I'm not the least bit surprised either. Amazingly I've just noticed there's a site on Facebook that lists all the available public bathrooms in Manhattan. That's one of the main things I've always despised about Manhattan is the dearth of public facilities.

MISERABLE WEATHER
Today we wish a rousing happy birthday to my cousin Gino. Yesterday I went back over to the Barnes & Noble by the mall again. While I was there I couldn't help noticing that John Huston, in 1979, made a movie of Flannery O'Connor's "Wise Blood". Oddly, I'd never even heard of it before. The weather was very dreary yesterday & it started raining quite a whole lot late in the afternoon. On my way home I couldn't help noticing that there was an accident on the main road immediately outside the shopping centers. Today's weather's been very bad too. I usually don't like what's on TV & can't stand staying up late anyway but last night was a little different. There was a show on channel 3 about the fifty all time best TV comedy catch phrases. Quite a few of my very favorites appeared to have made their way onto the list.

SONIA MARIA SOTOMAYOR
Today is my niece Bridget's twelfth birthday. Next year she gets to be a teenager. It's time to wish her a very happy birthday. Tomorrow's cousin Gino's birthday. He's already an adult. Memorial Day went quite well although it was more than a little on the fattening & hot site. The West Wyoming kin came over on Saturday. It rained a little while they were here_more thunder than anything else_ & only got entirely out of hand after they all left Uncle Frankie helped my father with a lot of things. Fran & Lisa were cooking on the barbecue too. There was only one thing I didn't like yesterday though. There was a parade on 8th Street. The entire street was blocked so no one could get out of O.L. Sorrows parking lot. I had the absolute, unmitigated nerve to dare to complain under my breath in my car about it. Some woman presumed to come over to tell me how rude she thought I was_well excuuuuse me! It was none of her business since I was alone & not talking to her or anyone else. In spite of what she appeared to have thought, she, not I, gets the ignoramus of the year award. Obama, our pro_abortion president, has picked Sonia Maria Sotomayor as Souter's replacement. So far all we know about her is that she's a Hispanic woman & a New Yorker.
