Holy Saturday

All has been working out quite well so far. Fran came over for a few minutes today. I've gone for my second day in a row headache_free. It's ice cold but not raining, snowing or otherwise bad weather_wise. I got a card from Daren's mother. I'll be looking forward to all the cute as a bug's ear decorations, food etc. but I dread overdoing the food. Hey, I see even Jo Anne, one of the little red haired girls, has gotten back to sending e mail lately. Lots of times she's too busy. Although I've never particularly enjoyed shaving, neither have I ever especially relished the thought of having to traipse around looking like a derelict or bum, so I've been trying to get into the habit of shaving every day. Lately I have been doing quite well. My appearance, since I've never been able to grow a decent mustache, beard etc. is much better clean shaven.

GOOD FRIDAY

Last night I went to Holy Thursday Mass & Exposition at O.L.Sorrows. Today started out without a headache, & even ended up that way too, unlike the previous four days. I went to O.L.Sorrows for a few minutes & then to the Good Friday liturgy at St. Joseph's. After that I even went to the Liturgy, including Rosary & Stations of the Cross, at Child Jesus. Unlike at O.L.P.H., parking over here isn't usually an absolute nightmare though it has been known to get me more than slightly hysterical every once in a while. It's my very first Easter triduum as a for really & for truly resident of Pa. The weather's stunk like crazy lately. Canada appears to have send us more than a smidge's worth of a cold spell, so my undying & inconsolable chagrin. There was no meat on today's menu. Unfortunately, Bridget's been very sick lately, so Mary Anne & family won't be in until tomorrow. I think a lot of things lately, including my incessant headaches, can be attributed to flu cooties or something like that. The bug's been going around like crazy these days. I got a flu shot recently & maybe that's why I haven't been very sick.

Holy Thursday

Easter beckons. The big day is right around the corner. I shall be going to 7:00 p.m. Mass this evening, once again a major change from my New Yorker days because here I don't know anybody. I've had headaches for what is now my fourth day in a row. Today I lucked out though because it's on the right side so it doesn't hurt so much. The weather is getting progressively worse & we're even expecting at least a smidge of snow. People such as KrissyKrissyKrissy & Fran must go stark raging nutso when they have to travel through it. I found out last night that channel 21 is one of the major movie networks. Believe it or not, it had never really occurred to me up until then what it was. One of these days, I shall have to see what's on their schedule. Sometimes, though not usually, they have really good stuff.

It's Raining Again

On my much better days, that's just the title of a favorite Supertramp song of mine. Today, though, to my undying chagrin, it's a complaint about the icy cold, wet, dreary weather. For the past three days, I've gotten headaches on top of that. I heard the beginnings of "Abraham, Martin & John" on the radio a little while ago. That's because today is the thirty ninth anniversary of the assassination, in Atlanta, Ga., of Martin Luther King, Jr. I know that because I've always been an expert on the 1960's. Everybody's entitled to one weird hobby. I just found out a while ago, on "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" that his real first name was Michael. KrissyKrissyKrissy's back in New York. She for sure picked a groovy day to have to travel. I don't suppose it would be a particularly bright idea for me to go to my council's meeting tonight. I tried to spend a little while on my computer last night but it was too slow for me. I try to use it only sparingly. I see John & Theresa Kerry were on TV last night. They're mixed up with some of those Greenpeace_y environmentalist fanatics these days.

Elton John Has Declared Christianity Unacceptable By His Standards

Old, liberal rock star Elton Hercules John has decided that Christianity has failed to comply precisely with his entirely non_negotiable standard for compassion. Were it up to Sir Elton, of course, Christianity would be banned. Like all left_wingers, he for sure knows much better than the Church how things are supposed to be done. Hey, I've always really enjoyed the old boy's songs but talent is no guarantee of brains. Perhaps, Sir Elton, a smidge more fiber in your diet would do the trick. Lately the weather has been cold in the morning & very nice during the day. Let's hope for a groovy Easter, weather_wise. Things will be busy around here. Once again, I repeat, I shall not be lectoring, though I did get nudged into ushering a smidge. Today I took a contest ticket & a $20 bill to O.L.Sorrows for the big lottery thingy that's going on in May. It's for a big trip instead of money. It lasts all month so it ultimately works out to not even $1 a day for the price of the ticket. I used to sell stuff like this for fund raisers all the time in New York.

Nice Day Eventually

This morning I plum froze but later on the day got much better. The temperature's now in the seventies. I am always at my very best on days like today. Yesterday I ate so much Chinese food in Wilkes_Barre & then so much more food at the Holy Name Society on top of that that I shall not be able to face another bite for a mighty long time to come. Yesterday was the very first time I ever got a chance to attend a Latin Mass on Palm Sunday. The weather stunk all day but other than that everything worked out quite well. I made sure I pulled my official inevitable April Fool's prank for the year.

Happy April

I just found out, upon having searched the internet last night, that George W. Bush is planning to resign the U.S. presidency, making him the second to do so, both in my lifetime. According to the N.Y. Post & Philadelphia Enquirer, this will transpire on Monday, April 16, 2007. Soon we shall have Cheney at the controls. Today we shall be eating Chinese food in Wilkes_Barre. Now there's a typical Palm Sunday for you. I'm back on my own computer again for ten hours as of the new month. This week will be busy with all sorts of preparations for the big day. The Holy Name Society's meeting will be tonight because next Sunday is Easter. This will be my very first Easter ever as a hillbilly instead of a city slicker. I just got my car registration stuff & insurance stuff recently. Those things are enough to get a guy crazy after a while, with the only difference being that Pa.'s rates are much less expensive than N.Y.'s. Soon I shall have to take advantage of the nice weather & start walking again.
