Annoying Rainy Friday

It's pouring out and fifty two degrees is pretty odd for January. It's a lousy day. Everybody should do the Friday dance, the first of our brand spanking new year. My blogs are picking up traffic like plum loco. I can't understand why my http://www.mybloglog.com site has gone down to saying I have no visitors. I know perfectly well I've most certainly gotten all sorts of feedback over there. I've still been reading those two books. The RFK biography is giving me all sorts of ammunition for the next time something relevant to those days comes up. I already knew most of his life story anyway. You'd be surprised how many people from that era have been household names since then too. I noticed the same thing when Ford died. January is usually flu season for me but somehow I've managed to avoid it so far. As far as I know, the weekend doesn't seem to be showing any signs of being all that nasty.

The Ronald & The Coin

My cousin The Ronald, in the State of Washington, with the help of other kinfolk, including his own young uns, has made all us kinfolk a commemorative family coin. Everybody is quite happy about it. It took lots of time & effort & we're all deliriously happy about the groovy job. Last night I saw Billy Crystal, Lisa Kudrow & Robert DeNiro in Analyze That. My computer still works but still I have to come usually to the library because I get only ten hours a month. KrissyKrissyKrissy will soon be visiting.

Oblada Oblada Life Goes On Bra...

So far 2007 doesn't seem to be determined to bring too many drastic changes into our lives. The library has a new system. It's like Copiague's now in the sense that they use the cards instead of just making us sign a sheet of paper to keep track of people. I finished the Flannery O'Connor book & have just started the Evelyn Waugh book. The RFK biography is quite riveting. Yesterday I joined the mailing list for the RFK Network. Good Bye to Gerald R. Ford

Today's the day we bid a final ttfn to the 38th president. 2007 is finally and at last under way. This morning I made sure I got some details about my driver's license straightened out. On top of that, my car needed anti_freeze. I have to be especially frugal about my computer because I'm only entitled to ten free hours a month. D'oh! I'm still reading Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor & that RFK bio. My blog traffic appears to be going through the roof. TheRonald got a commemorative coin for each of us. I have to go on a major & totally diet again.

Best wishes for a right groovy new year. A lady I know from www.mybloglog.com sent me a reaction to my comment on Saddam Hussein's death & I shall have to think of a response to it. Last night I watched the Marx Bros. Duck Soup. It was an otherwise entirely droll uneventful New Year's Eve. Today I wnet to 10 a.m. Mass at O.L. Sorrows. I read someplace that Alexander Solzhenitsyn once said that violence cannot exist in the absence of lies. Since today is both the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God & a World Day of Prayer for Peace, that's my one-liner for the new year.

Pert Near 2007

The brand spanking new year finally beckons. Saddam Hussein finally got his just deserts. Maybe that bodes well for the war. I've been reading a lot lately. Yesterday I went to a Wilkes Barre book store to take advantage of a gift card I got for Christmas. I got Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh (who was once married to a woman named Evelyn.) and a supposedly definitive biography of Robert F. Kennedy. That last one's a concession to my age It's not every day I get to read a book about somebody I've met in person but once I met RFK at a St. Patrick's Day parade. I have a bit of a headache today. Because Wyoming's library's closed I'm In West Pittston. Netscape only lets me have ten hours free every month on my computer so I'm usually stuck at places like this.

The Beatles are to be honored on the U.K.s new postage stamps. The Royal Mail, England's national postal service, is putting images of six especially groovy Beatle albums on a new series of stamps. The six fab records are: "With the Beatles", "Help", "Revolver", "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Abbey Road" & "Let It Be". Back to Gerald Ford

As far as I'm concerned, Ford has always struck me as a very good man. He was President during the middle of my high school years. He had one grotesque flaw though: he was pro_abortion. Besides his pardon of Nixon his other most controversial act was his appointment of John Paul Stevens to the Supreme Court. Find out about Stevens at http://www.oyez.org & http://www.issues2000.org Stevens is entirely in favor of Roe v. Wade. He is also entirely in favor of reverse discrimination(aka affirmative action), and gives all sorts of entirely unacceptable benefits to homosexuals. Ford was a good person, but obviously when he blew it, he really blew it.

Death of A U.S. President

Unfortunately, I found out this morning that Gerald Rudolph Ford, 38th President of the U.S., died yesterday. His death came exactly 34(or was it 33?) years after that of Harry S. Truman. I read a biography of Ford's a while ago & was quite impressed. The Christmas party time is over & we are now officially in the Christmas season. There are snow flurries today. I got a used computer_very nice_from my nephew Michael. Last night I went to bed around midnightish &_believe it or not_didn't get up until 6:06! I got my high school's newsletter today & couldn't find any reference to an upcoming reunion for my class. Good King Wenceslaus...Feast of Stephen

Oh yeah they're real. Today's the Feast of St. Stephen. I've been eating entirely too much for Christmas. The presents have been exchanged but there's still very much more visiting & pigging out left to do. I went to midnight Mass at St. Joseph's on Christmas Eve. It was very nice but awfully odd because of its not being O.L.P.H. Mary Anne, Steve & young uns are here. I have to get that computer fixed up. We already went to Uncle Frankie's & now it's time for a trip to Michelle's. The weather's been entirely doable.
