Holy Thursday

Easter beckons. The big day is right around the corner. I shall be going to 7:00 p.m. Mass this evening, once again a major change from my New Yorker days because here I don't know anybody. I've had headaches for what is now my fourth day in a row. Today I lucked out though because it's on the right side so it doesn't hurt so much. The weather is getting progressively worse & we're even expecting at least a smidge of snow. People such as KrissyKrissyKrissy & Fran must go stark raging nutso when they have to travel through it. I found out last night that channel 21 is one of the major movie networks. Believe it or not, it had never really occurred to me up until then what it was. One of these days, I shall have to see what's on their schedule. Sometimes, though not usually, they have really good stuff.

It's Raining Again

On my much better days, that's just the title of a favorite Supertramp song of mine. Today, though, to my undying chagrin, it's a complaint about the icy cold, wet, dreary weather. For the past three days, I've gotten headaches on top of that. I heard the beginnings of "Abraham, Martin & John" on the radio a little while ago. That's because today is the thirty ninth anniversary of the assassination, in Atlanta, Ga., of Martin Luther King, Jr. I know that because I've always been an expert on the 1960's. Everybody's entitled to one weird hobby. I just found out a while ago, on "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" that his real first name was Michael. KrissyKrissyKrissy's back in New York. She for sure picked a groovy day to have to travel. I don't suppose it would be a particularly bright idea for me to go to my council's meeting tonight. I tried to spend a little while on my computer last night but it was too slow for me. I try to use it only sparingly. I see John & Theresa Kerry were on TV last night. They're mixed up with some of those Greenpeace_y environmentalist fanatics these days.

Elton John Has Declared Christianity Unacceptable By His Standards

Old, liberal rock star Elton Hercules John has decided that Christianity has failed to comply precisely with his entirely non_negotiable standard for compassion. Were it up to Sir Elton, of course, Christianity would be banned. Like all left_wingers, he for sure knows much better than the Church how things are supposed to be done. Hey, I've always really enjoyed the old boy's songs but talent is no guarantee of brains. Perhaps, Sir Elton, a smidge more fiber in your diet would do the trick. Lately the weather has been cold in the morning & very nice during the day. Let's hope for a groovy Easter, weather_wise. Things will be busy around here. Once again, I repeat, I shall not be lectoring, though I did get nudged into ushering a smidge. Today I took a contest ticket & a $20 bill to O.L.Sorrows for the big lottery thingy that's going on in May. It's for a big trip instead of money. It lasts all month so it ultimately works out to not even $1 a day for the price of the ticket. I used to sell stuff like this for fund raisers all the time in New York.

Nice Day Eventually

This morning I plum froze but later on the day got much better. The temperature's now in the seventies. I am always at my very best on days like today. Yesterday I ate so much Chinese food in Wilkes_Barre & then so much more food at the Holy Name Society on top of that that I shall not be able to face another bite for a mighty long time to come. Yesterday was the very first time I ever got a chance to attend a Latin Mass on Palm Sunday. The weather stunk all day but other than that everything worked out quite well. I made sure I pulled my official inevitable April Fool's prank for the year.

Happy April

I just found out, upon having searched the internet last night, that George W. Bush is planning to resign the U.S. presidency, making him the second to do so, both in my lifetime. According to the N.Y. Post & Philadelphia Enquirer, this will transpire on Monday, April 16, 2007. Soon we shall have Cheney at the controls. Today we shall be eating Chinese food in Wilkes_Barre. Now there's a typical Palm Sunday for you. I'm back on my own computer again for ten hours as of the new month. This week will be busy with all sorts of preparations for the big day. The Holy Name Society's meeting will be tonight because next Sunday is Easter. This will be my very first Easter ever as a hillbilly instead of a city slicker. I just got my car registration stuff & insurance stuff recently. Those things are enough to get a guy crazy after a while, with the only difference being that Pa.'s rates are much less expensive than N.Y.'s. Soon I shall have to take advantage of the nice weather & start walking again.

Went to Church Last Night

Last night I went to the Living Stations of the Cross at O.L.Sorrows. The churches in the Wyomings have the traditional Stations every Friday during Lent & last night was the teen aged young uns turn to have their own version. They & the Holy Name Society guys did a swell job of things. Easter is undeniably the single most important day of the entire year. I especially like the candy, flowers & smell. KrissyKrissyKrissy is busy today. She's a major source of movies for me. The weather's been a smidge cooler than I like it so far. On this eve of April Fool's Day, I have to devise something so obnoxious for tomorrow that it will entirely top even what my connections are capable of. Gas prices are soaring & I've even recently heard that they're expected to top $5.00. I didn't get to eat anything all that interesting yesterday because it was Friday but the pizza was nice. Laureen finally sent me an e mail. I was genuinely surprised because for quite a while she's been quieter than a graveyard.

Almost Cut My Hair

That's a Neil Young oldie. Usually I live in the land of the Cowsills' oldie Hair. Yesterday, though, I trudged right on over to Rose's barber shop by the bridge on 8th Street & once again did the unthinkable. I got a haircut. Ever since I was but a mere young un, I've never been all that big on haircuts. Once in a while, though, I like to get stark raging silly. My lens fell out of my glasses again, this time in the parking lot. I've got to wise up & get something done about that. In my young hepcat days, a flowing mane was my trademark. KrissyKrissyKrissy's back from New York. The weather's still a smidge colder than I like it. The library parking lot's still getting me nuts. Gael got her birthday card. Cathleen told me, though, that there's not enough rain out there. We haven't gotten any lately here either. I see Rosie O'Donnell's put her foot in her mouth again. I've never liked her anyway, except when she played Nell Carter's foil on Gimme A Break. Bob Uecker, who played George Winslow on Mr. Belvedere, was hounded by a stalker a few weeks ago. Now I've heard everything. I can just imagine what the cast of Alf must be going through.

Cool Lately

The weather's still a smidge chillier than I like it but it's getting there. Last night I saw Snakes on A Plane with Samuel L. Jackson. Hey it came out last year. That breaks a new world record for me. I just found out this morning that one of our local neighborhood parks will be having an Easter egg hunt pretty soon. We can count on all sorts of things like that these days. California Gael's birthday is tomorrow, in case I forget. She's involved with all sorts of Irish things, including genealogy, so she should have been born on St. Patrick's Day. Yesterday, on my way out of here, traffic in the driveway was blocked because some lunatic in a van parked there and made it impossible for me to get out. I went to the driveway of the church next door. Somebody else drove in though & made it impossible for me to get out. I hereby put a pox upon them all. That, & the loud guy on the cell phone right next to me in the library, drove me nuts. It's still quite a bit better than Copiague, though.

Everyone Knows It's Windy

Does the wind really cry Mary, though? The weather's much nicer these days, & California Cathleen even says her temperatures are in the nineties, last week anyway. She said the winds lately have been around 35 m.p.h. We got the same deal over here with wind. KrissyKrissyKrissy is back in New York until Friday. Maybe I shall watch at least one more of her DVDs. The ones I haven't seen are movies I haven't even heard of. Uncle Frankie showed up yesterday. Palm Sunday & April are right around the corner. Easter should be pretty groovy & fattening this year. One year, at my old KofC council, I even dressed up as the Easter Bunny for the young uns' party. This year, though, I suppose I shall be but a mere bystander at all the parties, etc. I suppose, as I've said at least once before, I shall have to get some exercise so I can at least fit into my really nice clothes. I just found out about a new car, known as the roadster, that supposedly gets 70 m.p.g. This could be just what people are looking for but who knows how it will work out?
